چکیده

Abstract When a reservoir is damaged, it will bring destruction to people's lives and the regional economy. Flood simulation risk assessment are two effective ways mitigate flood risk. assessed by using hazard vulnerability indices. However, one of key concerns how quantify hazards vulnerabilities more rationally. To this end, study introduces new quantitative method for assessment. Three schemes – full dam breach (S1), 1/2 (S2), 1/3 (S3) were proposed simulation. HEC-RAS 2D was used simulate evolution process dam-break floods. This quantification approach calculate based on results. The results show following: (1) inundation similar under three schemes, but degree differs. greater break, depth, maximum flow velocity, duration. (2) High-risk areas decrease with decreased break degree. Under Longjing Street account 65.37, 71.41, 66.22% total areas, respectively, which most affected

The 1786 earthquake-triggered landslide dam and subsequent dam-break flood on the Dadu river, southwestern China

Forensic studies of past hydraulic structure failures are rare despite their critical relevance to modern hydraulic design, and the writers (Dai et al., 2005) must be congratulated for their outstanding study. Herein the discussion is focused on two aspects of the conclusion. It is believed that dam overtopping was the primary cause of the Dadu river landslide dam failure, although aftershocks ...

Break fill-dam simulation using GeoStudio (case study: Safarood earth dam, Kerman)

One of the main reason of earth-dam breaks is inner erosion which is caused by washing fine soil particles and finally lead to seepage inside the dam. Seepage will decrease effective tension in the earth-dam's core and arching phenomena is occurred. More settlement of core than to shell is the consequence of arching and occurrence of cracking. In this paper, GeoStudio software based on finite e...

Dam-break Flood Risk Management. an Integrated Project

Contemporary dam safety regulations include risk assessment at downstream flood plains and consideration of potential damages due to dam rupture, regardless of the expected probability of occurrence of such event. The aim of these kind of procedures is to increase the safety level along the valley against abnormal floods caused by dam accidents. Emergency plans for downstream flood plains, incl...

A Mathematical Model for Forecasting the Dam-Break Flood Routing Process of a Landslide Dam

Once a landslide dam bursts, its reservoir discharges quickly in a flood which will cause catastrophic damage to life and property downstream. For a specific landslide dam, the peak flow rate and the evolution of downstream flood are influenced by the shape and size of the dike breach when dam-break occurs. According to the general nature of landslide dams and field observations of dike-breach ...
